Six facts about us!

Another Thursday, another Mama Kat's Writing Workshop. Today I chose:

1.) List 6 random facts about you and your husband.

Here are some facts about my husband and me.

1. We got married in Las Vegas. I know "cheesy and cliche", right? Well, we did not get married by Elvis, and we had a great time! The chapel was adorable and we have some awesome pictures. Plus, we had a really good trip! Three of our closest friends flew out there, along with my parents.

2. He did not want a dog. I really wanted a dog. I kind of brought Ella home against his will. However, I think I won ultimately, because he loves Ella! Sometimes, I think he may be more sad if she ran away than if I did! They bonded early on, evidence here:

3. We would rather get a movie from Redbox, than go to the movie theater. Anytime we see a new trailer, we give it a level of importance. It will fall into either Redbox, cheap theater (We have a $3 theater here. It shows movies about ready to come to DVD.), or regular theater. I think I can count the amount of times we chose regular theater on one hand for the past year. If you haven't checked out redbox, you should. We love it. You can't beat $1.25 for a movie rental! *I am in no way compensated by redbox.*

Seriously. We rent some movies.

4. We have known each other for over ten years. We have been married a little over a year. We have dated for almost three years. However, we have known each other for over a decade. We worked together for a long time, and never thought of each other in a romantic way. After we had both had relationships fall apart, we hung out in a group a few times and just clicked. We started hanging out alone and things fell together quickly. I should probably mention Kristen here. I know she reads this and will yell at me if I don't give her credit. She did set up the group things because she thought he and I would be good together. So, thank you Kristen.

5. We got engaged on Abraham Lincoln's property. Yes, I'm serious. I'm a history nerd. We live close to a historical town with Lincoln's home in it. He suggested one day going up there for a day of historical tours and meeting my friends for dinner. He surprised me by proposing in front of Lincoln's house. I didn't know he had the ring. I thought he was kidding. The first thing to come out of my mouth was, "Stand up! People are going to stare!" This still makes me laugh, as he then proved to me he was serious and had a ring.

6. He has a son. I have a stepson. I don't mention him much, but he is with us quite a bit throughout the days. He has a very entertaining personality and says the most random things.  We try to not let him be engulfed in technology, which is hard in today's world. Getting outside and using imagination is important to us. Hopefully, he will appreciate it as he gets older.

  1. I am so with you on the Redbox...only for us it is Netflix. Can't think of anyplace I would rather be than home with the people I love!

  2. I agree, movies at home is a great way to spend time together. Cheep, too. We have a theater room. My husband can watch a lot more movies than I can.
