My Kitchen: My Favorite Room

Mama Kat's Writing Workshop:
2.)  Give us a tour of a room in your house you love.

I have chosen to give you a tour of a room I love. A room I love, even though it isn't too fancy, is the kitchen. As I stated in a past blog post, I enjoy cooking. When we moved in, I spent a lot of time figuring out how to arrange things in the kitchen. Here is a small tour!

Above is a view of the room. We have lots of cabinet space. Which, after our previous smaller kitchen, I can't help but still smile about! The cabinets and appliances line each side of the kitchen. One end opens to the dining room. The other to the living room. Another great feature of our house, it all opens up to make a big circle. You can walk through our house without ever turning around.

Back to the kitchen!

Counter space! We have it! I get to keep appliances out on the counter, and still have plenty of space to spare. I keep the things we use the most out for easy access. The rice cooker/veggie steamer and coffee maker are used the most in this house. What appliance do you use a lot?

Functionality and splashes of color. On our counters we also have canisters, spices, utensils, and knives. Things that are used regularly in our cooking routines. My good friend got us the utensil holder and rice cooker as wedding presents. Some of my favorite items in the kitchen! I like to be able to have easy access to my utensils. I know opening a drawer isn't very hard, but being able to just grab the spatula from right by the stove is even easier!

Some decorations and splashes of color. We have collected wine corks since we started dating. I later found this cute container at a local winery. We have electronic calendars, but nothing beats the feeling of that good old paper organization! Completely out of character for me, I love a chaotic looking fridge. I enjoy a massive amount of magnets and pictures. It would probably drive someone else crazy, but this is the only part of our house that is cluttered.

My favorite appliance! We didn't have one in the old house. Well, we did, but her name was Suzie. I appreciate the extra time this gives me in the evenings. A quick rinse and dishes thrown in this contraption and I get to move on with life.

So, there is my kitchen! I spend a lot of time in it and enjoy it. I will I'm sure add some more color and theme as time goes on, but for the past six months I've just enjoyed the extra space!

  1. I love your kitchen! Your fridge looks like mine. We buy refrigerator magnets when we travel! My kitchen also sports a ginormous calendar to keep track of everyone and everything.

  2. Cool share. Nice kitchen. I understand the dishwasher. We finally replaced ours a couple years ago with a better model that is actually quiet. I LOVE it.
